The first look at the Stamina 1690 Power Tower it looks delicate and like it can’t handle a significant amount of weight working out on it, especially for a long period.
Surprisingly, though, this one gets a lot of great reviews. From the picture online, it looks as though the pull-up bar is angled, which would make for awkward pull-ups, but don’t worry, that’s just an optical illusion.

I like the fact that the push-up position is on the same side of the machine like most other stations, except the pull-up bar. This offers convenience, especially in tighter quarters.

Body Champ has a solid reputation for great machines. This is no different. The first time I looked at the Body Champ Power Tower I assumed it was meant for a gym and not my home.

What I truly appreciate about the Body Champ Power Tower is the option for two different types of pull-ups. You can either have a wider position of your hands, focusing on specific muscle groups in your arms, shoulders, and upper chest, or bring them closer.
It’s a nice option to have when you want to get the most out of your home workouts. Middle of the road price tag isn’t too shabby, either.

The second XMark on the list for our top 5 is the Power Tower XM-4434 and like its cousin, it’s a good machine.
Simple in design, it does have a few of the same limitations that the other model has, most notably a narrow center, which creates some balance problems.
It’s also up there in price, which can turn some off, especially considering the possibility it could shift with a heavier person working out.
A lot of other user reviews stated the same concern about stability. Because it is so narrow, if you’re doing any type of routine that throws you slightly off-balance, that can become a major concern.
The push-up station is positioned well, and that’s something most people I know would use a lot, but the dip station can be awkward to use, thanks to the handrail for the vertical knee raise being right there, where your elbows would want to land.

As a power tower, this one provides some key advantages over the others about the station itself. Most notably the independent utility bench and weight plate storage.
However, we’re not looking for appearance, are we? We’re seeking out functionality. The back pad for the vertical knee raise is straight, and that might not work best for most people.
The bars also interfere with dips and the machine may slip off-balance as a result of this station.
I enjoyed working out with all of these stations and while you can’t go wrong with any of them when you have a specific need to focus on (muscle group), if you want an all around solid workout, don’t want to overspend, and you have to think about space in your home, then you’d do well to go with the Stamina 1690 Power Tower.
This was actually a surprise to me when I first set out to test each of these units. The Stamina simply looked like the flimsiest, the one that you wouldn’t bother with if you’re a serious person bent on getting in top physical condition.
